Everything was going smoothly on our way home from our two-week long mission. Lucy and I were up front, talking side by side about the new edition of Sorcerer Magazine while Natsu and Gray paraded behind us. They were bickering for the umpteenth time today about something that I didn't bother to pay any attention to. Happy was most likely walking beside them.
He wasn't too happy with me at the moment, as I had stepped on his tail by accident while trying to help out Natsu take down a monster. No matter how many apologies nor the amount of fish offered would let the little guy glance in my direction.
“We're only a few moments away from getting back to the guild after being away and you haven't injured yourself.” Lucy settled her hand on my shoulder, congratulating me on the victory of my lack of clumsiness during our mission. “You somehow always manage to harm yourself.”
“I guess you're right,” I said sheepishly, running a hand through my knotted hair.
Even if I tripped over myself, I would somehow end up with a sprained ankle or a concussion. I've had countless encounters of tumbling down staircases and knocking into chairs at the guild. I even lack a perfect balance to even walk in a straight line.
       Lucy spoke too soon.
While we were heading down a flight of stairs, Natsu and Gray's bickering turned into a full on fight with pushing and shoving involved. To put the story short, Gray shoved Natsu forward, making him stumble into me, resulting in both of us to roll down the rest of the steps all the way down to the bottom.
Gray could be heard from the top of the stairs, “Look what you did, hot head!”
“Hey, you're the one who pushed me, ice cube!” Natsu roared back, rolling off of me.
A dull ache raked the back of my skull from hitting the stone an unsettling amount of times and both my bare knees where stinging intensely. I didn't have to look down at them to know that my skin was split open. When you fall as many times as me, you just know.
“Are you okay?” Lucy frantically ran down the stairs and knocking over Natsu to get to my side. “I spoke too soon didn't I?”
She frowned before glaring at the other two that back into having a quarrel again.
“You jinxed me.” I shrugged, rubbing the back of my head that was starting to feel heavy.
Happy was singing in the background 'karma' before Gray spewed something threatening to the cat that I didn't catch, something about being shaved I think.
“If you two didn't fight all the time with one another, she wouldn't have been hurt!” Lucy lectured the pair.
“We didn't mean to get you hurt.” Natsu bowed his head apologetically towards me.“If someone didn't push me, you would have been alright!”
“Watch it, flame brain. If you hadn't kept bumping into me, I won't of had to push you!” Gray whacked Natsu in the back of the head.
       “Why I-”
“Boys, stop fighting!” I interrupted, picking myself up from the ground. The process was slow and the pain in my knees increased with every move I made. Extending my legs fully was the worst of it all.
A hand snaked around the middle of my back, helping me the rest of the way.
Gray's deep voice sounded from above my head, “You three can head back to the guild so everyone doesn't think we're dead. I'm going to help (Y/N) get back to her home.”
Once everybody else went on without us, Gray swooped me up off my feet in one swift movement, causing a sharp pain in my head to shoot up at the unexpected motion.
“Ow, not so fast!” I winced at the throbbing.
He mumbled an apology before traveling onward down the road.
Gray had us in my house within minutes, ushering me up onto the bathroom counter top. He rushed around the place for the first aid kit, looking under the sink, in various drawers, even behind the shower curtain at one point.
I tried to hold in my laughter, “Gray, it's in the hall closet.” I pointed out into the hallway.
The black haired mage grumbled something under his breath as he trudged out of the room. He came back within seconds, a box tucked underneath his arm.
He then went on to tell me how much Natsu was an idiot as he rummaged around in the first aid kit.
“Do you really have to use the hydrogen peroxide?” I whined at the small bottle in his hands.
“I'm afraid so,” he tsked, swatting my hands away when I tried a feeble attempt to get it out of his grip. “How are your hands?”
He nodded towards my closed fists that rested in my lap. I opened them to reveal no scrapes or gashes.. I let out a sigh of relief.
Gray cautiously grabbed my legs so my knees rested above the sink.
“Ready?” he unscrewed the cap off the hydrogen peroxide.
“Never.” I squeezed my eyes shut, gripping his arm to I brace myself for the inevitable pain that was going to happen. He chuckled at this action and I would have said a witty remark back, but I wanted to get this done and over with as quick as possible.
A whimper escaped my lips when it made contact with my raw skin.
The stinging sensation left after a couple of seconds, but it didn't stop a few tears from streaming down my cheeks.
“The worst part is over,” he pressed a hand to my face, his thumb wiping away stray tears. "Not so tough now aren't you?"
"Shut it," I huffed, flicking his cheek in annoyance.
"You're just like a child," he chuckled. His finger rested under my chin before kissing me for a short second.
"I know I am. I'm eight and a quarter!" I thrusted my hands up to his face, holding eight fingers up for him to see.
    "Dork."
After my knees were fully patched up and bandaged, Gray stood in front of me as I still sat on the counter. He pushed the hair that was in my face behind my ears before pressing his cool lips to my forehead. I closed my eyes at the contact, a low hum emitting from the back of my throat in contentment.
“I'm sorry for getting you hurt.”
“You don't have to say sorry, Gray. I'm accident prone,” I opened my eyes to meet his. “Why are you naked?”
I pointed down at his bare figure, my hand covering my mouth, laughing as he hurriedly ran around to gather his clothing
“Not again! What a way to ruin the moment,” he scoffed in aggravation. “WHY MUST THIS KEEP HAPPENING?!”
So I've just started watching Fairy Tail a few days ago and I must say it's slowly taking over my life. Gray has clearly taken my heart all this week and I just had to write something with him in it. :lovely:

Of course this didn't come out exactly like I had imagined it in my head, but oh well. Maybe I'll fix it up a little at a later date!

Please leave a comment! I'd really appreciate it!
:Pineapple la:  <--- I had to use this pineapple emoticon! I mean come on look at how awesome it is!
